Tiznit is a walled town in south-west Morocco, in the Souss-Massa region and capital of Tiznit Province. It lies about 90 km south of Agadir on the N1 road and about 15 km inland from the Atlantic coast at Aglou.
Tiznit is best known for its silver jewellery and the Souk des Bijoutiers, its roughly 5 km of earthen ramparts built after the town's foundation in 1882, the Source Bleue spring, and its busy Thursday souk.
The big weekly market (Souk el Khemis) is held on Thursday, starting early in the morning. The jewellery souk and medina shops are open most days.
Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) is the nearest international airport, roughly 85–90 km away — about 1 hour 15 minutes by road.
Aglou beach is about 15 km north-west of Tiznit, around 20 minutes by car or shared grand taxi.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the most comfortable months, with warm days and cool nights. Summer is busy on the coast and can be very hot inland.
